Intervention1: Metronidazole as peritoneal lavage in patients of perforation peritonitis.: In this arm patients with perforation peritonitis will be given peritoneal lavage using 200ml metronidazole.

Eligibility
Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: All patients with an age group of 18 to 60 years diagnosed with perforation peritonitis
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Peritonitis secondary to trauma Peritonitis secondary to gynaecological intervention Peritonitis secondary to malignancy Known history of allergy to antibiotics in the study

| To compare the post-operative outcomes in three groups in terms of - 1. Surgical site infection 2. Burst abdomen 3. Intra-abdominal abscess 4. Average length of hospital stay.Timepoint: Following operation of the patient, all the three groups i.e. peritoneal lavage with normal saline, metronidazole and gentamicin will be observed on day 3,7,15 and 30 for surgical site infection, burst abdomen, intra-abdominal abscess and average length of hospital stay. | — |
