Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: ASA Physical Status I II and III Elective lumbar spine surgery under general anaesthesia Body weight 40 to 90 kg Ability to understand and use the Visual Analogue Scale for pain assessment Written informed consent obtained

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients with known hypersensitivity or contraindication to dexmedetomidine or magnesium sulfate heartPatients with significant cardiac conduction abnormalities like block sick sinus syndrome severe bradycardia Severe hepatic or renal impairment Chronic opioid or analgesic use more than 3 months Pregnancy or lactation Emergency surgeries
