Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Group A (Healthy group): 15 systemically healthy subjects aged 25-60 years with clinically healthy periodontium. Group B (Periodontitis group): 15 systemically healthy patients aged 25-60 years with moderate to severe periodontitis with at least 5 teeth having PPD5mm CAL4mm bleeding on probing and radiographic evidence of bone loss. Group C (Periodontitis with Diabetic group): 15 Type II Diabetes Mellitus patients aged 25-60 years (with HbA1C values above 6.5 FBS levels above 120mgdl) with periodontitis with at least 5 teeth having PPD 5mm and CAL4mm bleeding on probing and radiographic evidence of bone loss.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Patients with any known systemic disease (other than diabetes) which can alter the course of periodontal disease. 2. Patients who have undergone periodontal treatment in past 6 months. 3. Patients having the habit of smoking and tobacco chewing. 4. Patients with the history of any recent infections. 5. Pregnant and lactating women. 6. Patients with Aggressive periodontitis 7. Patients with a history of antibiotic or anti-inflammatory drug intake in the past six months 8. Patients on treatment with steroids 9. Patients with congenital abnormalities
