Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Group 1: Normal Hearing Individuals Group 2: Hearing Impaired Individuals Common inclusion criteria for both groups: 1. Regular sleep schedule of 8 hours wakeup time between 6 am and 7 am and bedtime between 10 pm and 11 pm, Indian standard time with Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index score of 5 2. No history of neurological, psychological, or existing ophthalmological disorders 3. Corrected distance visual acuity better than or equal to 0.1 log MAR with refractive error of less than or equal to 5 D spherical and less than or equal 3 D cylindrical refractive error 4. The Montreal Cognitive Assessment score is greater than 25 5. Trichromatic color vision Inclusion criteria for group 1: Normal hearing level based on the age-matched threshold values as per the ISO definition with no reported listening effort Inclusion criteria for group 2: Moderate to severe hearing loss and hearing loss of cochlear origin greater than 40 dBH and hearing loss onset less than 1 year

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria for both groups: 1. Caffeine consumption 3 hours before the test time 2. Using an alpha-adrenergic agonist eye drop or any systemic medication 3. History of alcohol intake within the 24 hours and smokers 4. History of taking psychoactive agents 5. History of any systemic conditions such as uncontrolled diabetes, hypertension, hypothyroidism, cardiovascular disease, neurological, psychiatric, or vitamin deficiencies 6. History of previous retinal ophthalmic surgery, glaucoma, cataract and presence of any pupil abnormalities or relative pupillary afferent defects
