Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Adult patients with age greater than 18 years diagnosed with diabetes mellitus with chronic, non- healing wounds or ulcer on foot. Patients requiring VAC therapy as part of their wound management.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients with active infections not related to diabetes, example- Acute surgical wounds, burns. Patient with known allergies to material used in VAC therapy. Patients with no pre or post VAC wound swab or tissue culture reports.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
To evaluate the bacteriological changes in diabetic wound infection before and after VAC therapy application. Timepoint: To evaluate the bacteriological changes before application of 1st cycle of VAC and after last cycle of VAC in diabetic wound infection before and after VAC therapy application.

MeasureTime frame
To determine the types of bacteria present in diabetic wounds before VAC therapy.Timepoint: To determine the types of bacteria present in diabetic wounds before VAC therapy- Baseline.
