Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: All genders. Patients aged between 18 to 65 years. Patients undergoing major lower extremity amputations either above-knee or below-knee. Patients willing to provide informed consent.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients with head injury. Patients undergoing revision amputations. Patients having multiple associated injuries. Patients having injuries restricting mobility, like spine injury, pelvic fractures, contralateral lower limb injury and upper limb fractures. Patients with co-morbidities. Uncooperative and unattended patients.

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Assessment of readiness of stump for prosthesis application using a clinical standard of stump measurement and classification using ISPO 1983.Timepoint: 2, 6 and 12 weeks.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Rate of SSI at stump site. ADL score using Lower Extremity Functional Scale. QoL score using WHO QoL BREF. Scanning for objective measure of stump shrinkage. Timepoint: 2, 6 and 12 weeks
