Eligibility
Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Adult patients aged more than and equal to 18 years admitted to the Intensive Care Unit Diagnosed with septic shock according to Sepsis-3 criteria Serum magnesium level measured within 1 hour of ICU admission. Availability of baseline renal function parameters for AKI assessment. Informed and written consent obtained from the patient or legally authorized representative.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Patients with end-stage renal disease or on chronic dialysis. Patients who received magnesium supplementation or therapy within 72 hours prior to ICU admission. Patients on drugs affecting magnesium levels within 72 hours before admission. Pregnant women or patients with known endocrine or parathyroid disorders affecting magnesium metabolism. Patients who were readmitted to the ICU during the same hospitalization or transferred after more than 24 hours of initial septic shock diagnosis
