Intervention1: ICOPE-based Training for caregivers of elderly people with neurological and psychiatric disorders: Training will be provided in group of 4-5 caregivers at a time for 6 consecutive week

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Age more than 18 years old. Caregivers who are providing care to the elderly with neurological and psychiatric disorders at selected old age homes and have at least a month of experience. Caregiver with a similar role and responsibilities in caregiving to elderly people with neurological and psychiatric disorders. Paid caregivers other than health care professionals. Caregivers who are fluent in Hindi or English.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Caregivers who have previously undergone ICOPE-related training.

MeasureTime frame
Improved Knowledge and skills of caregivers in managing elderly with neurological and psychiatric disorders. disordersTimepoint: Pretest then training then post test immediately after training and 3 months of after training.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To explore the perceived utility and experience of providing care after training among stakeholders at selected old age homes in Bengaluru.Timepoint: After 3 months of completing the training focused group discussion will be conducted for all 3 groups of stakeholders for each will for 45-90 minutes.
