Intervention1: Dexmedetomidine: Intervention-Dexmedetomidine 1 microgram per kg intravenous infusion over 15 minutes administered 30 minutes before ECT followed by Standard anaesthesia with propofol 1

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients diagnosed with Schizophrenia as per DSM5,scheduled for ECT ,aged 18 to 65 years and categorised as American Society of Anaesthesiologist ASA physical status classification 1 to 3

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patient refusal Heart rate less than 65 per minute Baseline systolic blood pressure less than 100mmhg ECG abnormalities ASA grade 4 or more Pregnant female Patient with substance use disorder except nicotine and caffeine Patients in whom succinylcholine is contraindicated Patients with known allergy to one of the drugs
