Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Children aged 3 6 years 2.Children with dermatoglyphic pattern of all the ten fingers which can be assed 3.Children for whom the terminal plane relationship can be determined, where maxillary and mandibular molars are caries free and intact.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Mixed dentition 2.Attrition or pathology affecting second primary molars 3.Congenital anomalies of hands or fingers 4.Uncooperative children 5.Previous history of orthodontic treatment

Primary

MeasureTime frame
The primary outcome measures will include the type of dermatoglyphic pattern (loop, whorl, arch) and total ridge count and the terminal plane relationship (flush terminal plane, mesial step, distal step) recorded for each child.Timepoint:

MeasureTime frame
The secondary outcome measures will include the frequency distribution of dermatoglyphic patterns & their statistical association with different terminal plane relationships to assess their predictive value for early malocclusionTimepoint: Twenty four week
