Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Adult trauma patients 18 years and above requiring an ultrasound-guided brachial plexus block in the ED

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1 Known peripheral vascular disease in the affected limb 2 Presence of arteriovenous fistula 3 Amputation or severe injury preventing PI probe placement 4 Known coagulopathy or bleeding disorder 5 Hemodynamic instability or shock requiring immediate resuscitation 6 Pregnancy

To determine the diagnostic accuracy of the 10-minute perfusion index ratio in predicting final procedural success following ultrasound guided brachial plexus blockTimepoint: Baseline, 10 minutes and 30 minutes

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
1. To evaluate the temporal trends in perfusion index & perfusion index ratio over time at 5, 10 & 15 minutes following ultrasound guided nerve block & to compare these trends between patients with procedural success & procedural failure 2. To explore the relationship between early perfusion index trends & patient reported pain scores following nerve blockTimepoint: Baseline, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 15 minutes & 30 minutes
