Eligibility
Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Patients with borderline space discrepancy involving mild to moderate crowding (5 to 8 mm) or protrusion. 2. Age range: 14 to 28 years 3. All permanent teeth till 2nd molar should be present. 4. All 3rd molar (if present) extracted at beginning of treatment. 5. Healthy periodontium 6. Acceptable quality of scans (CBCT scan (voxel sizes 0.125 to 0.2 mm) involving maxilla and mandible with full set of permanent teeth and their roots). 7. Patient with consent for CBCT imaging.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Skeletal asymmetry, syndromes 2. Patient in need of extraction of premolars 3. Patients with protrusion severe enough to warrant orthognathic correction. 4. History of orthodontic treatment; history of trauma to maxillary anterior, pre-existing root resorption lesions. 5. Pregnancy that may cause safety problems during scan. 6. Patient not indicated for surgical procedures like extraction or miniscrew insertion (Hemophilia, Bleeding or clotting disorders).
Design outcomes
Primary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| To three-dimensionally evaluate the degree of root resorption of maxillary and mandibular teeth with total arch distalization utilizing Infra-Zygomatic Crest and Buccal Shelf miniscrew implants using CBCTTimepoint: Pre-treatment (T0) baseline Post-treatment(T1) 15 18 months after start of treatment | — |
Secondary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| 1. To quantitatively correlate the extent of root resorption with the amount of intrusion & distalization achieved using extra-alveolar anchorage 2. To identify the teeth most frequently & severely affected by root resorptionTimepoint: Pre-treatment (T0) baseline post-treatment (T1) 15 to 18 months after start of treatment | — |
