Design outcomes
Primary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| To evaluate the change in the sonographic ONSD from before and after short-term controlled mild hyperventilation in neurosurgical patients undergoing surgery for intracranial tumours under general anaesthesia.Timepoint: Baseline parameters in supine. Baseline End tidal Carbon dioxide after 1 minute of preoxygenation. 5 minutes after achieving baseline ETCO2 post- intubation. 5 minutes after achieving ETCO2 value of 5 mmHg below the baseline value | — |
Secondary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| 1] To correlate the changes in ONSD with effects on haemodynamic parameters: heart rate, systolic blood pressure and mean arterial blood pressure. 2] To comparatively evaluate the ONSD changes between groups of compensated and decompensated increased ICP.Timepoint: Baseline parameters in supine. Baseline End tidal Carbon dioxide after 1 minute of preoxygenation. 5 minutes after achieving baseline ETCO2 post- intubation. 5 minutes after achieving ETCO2 value of 5 mmHg below the baseline value | — |
