Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: ASA I AND II POSTED FOE AN ELECTIVE SURGERY OF LESS THAN 2 HOURS

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: PARENTS REFUSAL, PRESENCE OF CHRONIC ILLNESS, ASA III AND IV, ALLERGY TO DEXMEDETOMIDINE

MeasureTime frame
IN dexmedetomidine as a premedication in paediatric anesthesia can lead to significant reduction in opioid uses both intraoperative and postoperative periods. By reducing opioid consumption, it should also reduce the opioid related side effects including, respiratory depression, postoperative nausea and vomiting and delayed recovery. Thereby improving overall perioperative experience, also enhancing recovery outcomes. Timepoint: in a peripoerative period (intraoperative period+ postoperative period of 6hours)

Sedative, anxiolytic & analgesic properties of dexmedetomidine facilitate smoother induction of anesthesia & reduced parental separation anxiety . Timepoint: from 30 mins prior to surgery till induction of anaesthesia
