Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Pediatric patients with age ranging between 6 months to 8 years of either sex. 2. Scheduled for elective major surgery (e.g., abdominal, urological, or orthopedic procedures) 3. ASA Physical Status I or II. 4. Informed written consent obtained from the parent or legal guardian.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Presence of endocrine disorders or known metabolic/glucose regulation disorders. 2. Emergency surgery 3. Pre-existing neurological, cardiac, hepatic, or renal disease. 4. Contraindications to caudal block (e.g., bleeding diathesis, infection at the injection site, spinal anomaly) 5. Patients on steroids or medications affecting blood glucose metabolism.
