Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Apparently healthy school aged children 12 to 18 years with serum vitamin D less than 20 ng per ml and apparently healthy Adults aged 18-60 years with serum vitamin D less than 20 ng per ml

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Subjects with any chronic illness Those on medications that interfere with the evaluation of bone mineral metabolic parameters like anticonvulsant antitubercular drugs barbiturates and steroids. Use of sunscreens Using vitamin D or calcium supplements in last 3 months Diffused Skin diseases like pemphigus vulgaris albinism ichthyosis Refusal to consent Known cases of Mal-absorption Syndrome such as Lactose intolerance Celiac disease Pancreatic insufficiency
