Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: American Society of Anesthesiology Physical Status I II patients of either gender between age 18- 60 years. Patients undergoing laparoscopic surgeries under general anaesthesia and which require oral intubation.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients with recent upper respiratory tract infection, laryngeal or tracheal pathology Patients with heart disorders bradycardia heart block sick sinus syndrome coronary heart disease Patients allergic to local anesthetic Patients who are planned to received intravenous dexmedetomidine intraoperatively Patients needing nasogastric tube insertion Difficult airways needing more than two attempts of laryngoscopy and intubation
