Inclusion criteria: Pregnant women aged 18 to 40 years With more than 28 weeks of gestational age In true labour ASA Physical Status II Scheduled for normal vaginal delivery

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Pre-eclampsia or eclamptic patients Patients with heart disease BMI more than 30 Kg/m2 Patients with conditions that could hamper ultrasound assessment of the airway, like neck swelling, prior neck surgery, neck arthritis, cervical stenosis, restricted neck mobility, rheumatoid arthritis etc. Patients who were taken for caesarean delivery after recruitment.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Significant change in the depth and height of the cricothyroid membrane is expected in the postpartum period as compared to the onset of true labour in parturients undergoing normal vaginal delivery when assessed through ultrasound. Timepoint: Ultrasound guided cricothyroid membrane depth and height will be measured at the onset of true labour. Thereafter, within 4 hours of delivery ultrasound guided cricothyroid membrane depth and height will be measured
