Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Diagnosed chronic liver disease patients with sepsis/septic shock (Sepsis-3 definition) and acute hypoxemic respiratory failure requiring HFNC 2.Duration of illness less than 1 week

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Immediate need for intubation 2.Do-not-intubate status 3.Chronic home oxygen therapy 4.Hypercapnic respiratory failure as primary indication 5.Severe Hepatopulmonary syndrome 6. Grade 3 and 4 Hepatic Encephalopathy
