Interventions

Intervention1: intravenous dexmedetomidine before ect: to compare efficacy of prophylactic dexmedetomidine in preventing post ECT myalgia till 24 hours in patients undergoing elective ECT under genera

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Inclusion criteria comprised of patients aged between 18-60 year of either sex, belonging to ASA II(American Society of Anaesthesiologist) diagnosed with major depressive disorder or bipolar disorder posted for electroconvulsive therapy.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Patients with history of neuromuscular disorders. 2.Patients with known allergies to study drugs. 3.Patients with AV blocks and persistent bradycardia 5.Patients on beta blockers and anti arrhythmic drugs 6.Patients contra indicated to succinylcholine.
