Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Inclusion criteria comprised of patients aged between 18-60 year of either sex, belonging to ASA II(American Society of Anaesthesiologist) diagnosed with major depressive disorder or bipolar disorder posted for electroconvulsive therapy.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Patients with history of neuromuscular disorders. 2.Patients with known allergies to study drugs. 3.Patients with AV blocks and persistent bradycardia 5.Patients on beta blockers and anti arrhythmic drugs 6.Patients contra indicated to succinylcholine.

Primary

MeasureTime frame
To compare the incidence of post Elective convulsive therapy myalgia in both groups.Timepoint: To compare the incidence of post Elective convulsive therapy myalgia in both groups at 0,2,6,12,24 hours post ECT.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
1.To compare the incidence of fasciculations in both groups. 2. To compare the haemodynamic changes in both groups. 3.To compare the sedation scores in both groups. 4.To compare adverse effects between the groups Timepoint: every hour postoperatively up to 24hours
