Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Adult patients greater than or equal to 18 years of age will be included Documented hyponatremia (Patients presenting to the ED with symptoms of hyponatremia like lethargy, Altered sensorium, vomiting, seizure will be noted and a documented hyponatremia in the form of initial blood tests will be noted following which the eligible patients will be recruited into the study). Patient recruitment- Patients meeting the inclusion criteria of hyponatremia- sodium less than 135mmol, and those who present within 12 hours of onset of first symptoms. Since hyponatremia can also occur as a consequence of or in conjunction with other pathologies, these patients will also be recruited provided they have presented within 12 hours of onset of the current deterioration of clinical condition.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Exclusion of patients less than 18 years old, and vulnerable populations like pregnancy will be excluded. Hemodynamic instability requiring immediate critical intervention
