Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Adults aged 18 to 60 years of all genders 2.Major Depressive Disorder (single episode or recurrent, without psychotic features), confirmed by DSM-5 criteria using DIAMOND interview and with HAM-D score of 14 or more. 3.Currently receiving antidepressant medication with stable dosage for at last 8 weeks, or medication-naive 4.Ability to provide written informed consent in Kannada or English or Hindi.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Suicidal ideation with intent within the past one month, as assessed by the Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale (C-SSRS) 2.Current or past diagnosis of bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, substance use disorder (except tobacco), or obsessive-compulsive disorder, as identified by clinical evaluation or DIAMOND screening 3. Persistent Depressive Disorder (dysthymia) as the primary diagnosis 3.Cognitive impairment precluding participation in group sessions 4.Individuals currently undergoing ECT and/or any kind of structured psycho-therapy interventions for depression.
