Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients above 40 years of age. Old Newly Diagnosed patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) as per GOLD criteria. Patients willing to participate in the study and provide informed consent. Patients of COPD in OPD and IPD basis Patients with other obstructive airway diseases

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Pregnant patients Patients with neuromuscular disease Phrenic nerve injury Cervical spine injury Patients with thoracic deformities Uncooperative patients Patients with hemodynamic instability Patients with poor acoustic window for ultrasound Post surgery patients Other respiratory illness patients like asthma tuberculosis asthmacopd overlap syndrome Patients with O2 and NIV support CLD and ascites patients

To assess the diaphragmatic thickness and excursion measured by ultrasonography in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary DiseaseTimepoint: At baseline and IPD patients at the time of discharge

MeasureTime frame
To compare the severity of the disese with the diaphragmatic thickness and excursion. To assess the rate of exacerbation in relationship to diaphragmatic thickness Timepoint: 52 weeks
