Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Patients with more than 50 percent carotid artery stenosis, confirmed by imaging 2.Patients providing written informed consent.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Patients undergoing emergency Carotid endarterectomy 2.Patients who had received an Internal carotid artery patch angioplasty, due to the greater risk of restenosis. 3.Patients with altered sensorium preoperatively.

Incidence of intraoperative cerebral hypoperfusion, defined by a significant drop in regional cerebral oxygen saturation ,more than or equal to 20 percent decrease from baseline or an absolute value less than 50percent, and its correlation with the occurrence of postoperative neurological deficits, including stroke or transient ischemic attack.Timepoint: baseline, day 1 and day 2—

Comparative efficacy of cerebral oximetry in detecting cerebral hypoperfusion as compared with conventional monitoring modalities: o Stump pressure measurements o Bispectral Index for burst suppression o Cerebral perfusion pressure 2.
