Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: patients above the age of 30 years with spirometry-confirmed COPD willing to consent for the study and to undergo the process of sputum induction.
Exclusion criteria

Design outcomes
Primary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| To study the prevalence of eosinophilic airway inflammation phenotype in patient presenting with COPDTimepoint: It will be studied after 2 years at the completion of the study with total data | — |
Secondary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| 1. To assess the correlation between peripheral blood eosinophil count & sputum eosinophil percentage in stable COPD.Timepoint: It will be studied after 2 years at the completion of the study with total data;2. To determine the sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value & area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve of blood eosinophil thresholds for detecting sputum eosinophilia.Timepoint: It will be studied after 2 years at the completion of the study with total data;3. To evaluate associations between eosinophilic airway inflammation & demographic or clinical variables including smoking history, biomass exposure & disease severity.Timepoint: It will be studied after 2 years at the completion of the study with total data;4. To assess the clinical utility of a region-specific blood eosinophil threshold for phenotype-directed COPD management.Timepoint: It will be studied after 2 years at the completion of the study with total data | — |
