Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: DSM-5 diagnosis of schizophrenia, clinically stable (no hospitalization in past 1 month, no greater than 25 percentage change in antipsychotic dose in past 4 weeks). Attending Psychiatry OPD at Government Medical College, Dungarpur. Willing to provide written informed consent.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Severe medical comorbidities (renal, hepatic, or endocrine disorders). History of hypercalcemia, nephrolithiasis, or metabolic bone disease Pregnant or lactating women. Recent or ongoing vitamin D supplementation (past 12 weeks). Medications affecting vitamin D metabolism (anticonvulsants, glucocorticoids, rifampicin, etc.). Substance use disorder (except nicotine/caffeine). Inability or unwillingness to comply with follow-up.

Primary

MeasureTime frame
To assess the change in negative symptoms (SANS total score) after 12 weeks of vitamin D supplementation.Timepoint: baseline 4week 8week 12week

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To evaluate change in positive symptoms (SAPS total score). To evaluate change in attention using Digit span & Trail Making tests Timepoint: baseline 4week 8week 12week
