Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Adults aged more than 18 years scheduled for elective cardiac surgery (CABG/valve surgery) with fasting as per ASA guidelines with signed informed written consent.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Emergency surgery, Known gastrointestinal disorders (gastroparesis, obstruction), Previous upper GI surgery, Pregnancy, Patients on drugs affecting gastric motility like prokinetics and opioids preoperatively, Poor ultrasound imaging for assessment of GRV or EF

Primary

MeasureTime frame
To compare preoperative GRV between patients with preserved EF (more than equal to 40%) versus low EF (less than 40%).Timepoint: At baseline
