Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Inclusion criteria comprised patients aged above 18 years with at least two comparable intrabony periodontal defects in contralateral quadrants suitable for a split-mouth design. Defect sites were required to have a probing pocket depth (PPD) of greater than equal to 5 mm and radiographic evidence of intrabony defect depth greater than equal to 3 mm, associated with vital teeth. Only systemically healthy patients with no contraindications to periodontal surgery, who had completed Phase I periodontal therapy with satisfactory oral hygiene maintenance, and were willing to undergo surgical treatment and provide written informed consent were included.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria included patients with systemic conditions affecting periodontal wound healing, smokers and users of smokeless tobacco, pregnant or lactating women, teeth with furcation involvement or Grade III mobility, patients on long-term medications affecting bone metabolism, and sites with acute periodontal or periapical infection.

This study will help us to assess the clinical attachment level (CAL) gain in intrabony periodontal defects treated using the modified minimally invasive surgical technique with & without a moldable bone graft at 6 months.This study will help us to assess the probing pocket depth (PPD) reduction in intrabony periodontal defects.This study will help us to assess the change in gingival margin position (defect stability) in intrabony periodontal defects.Timepoint: 6 months
