Interventions

Intervention1: Preoperative Carbohydrate Loading: Patients will receive 400 ml clear carbohydrate drink on the night before surgery and 200 ml clear carbohydrate drink 2 hours before induction of anes

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients aged 30 to 70 years with diagnosed Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, ASA physical status II to III, scheduled for elective surgery under anesthesia, BMI 18 to 30 kg/m2, willing to provide written informed consent.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Known gastroparesis, gastroesophageal reflux disease or high aspiration risk, pregnancy, BMI greater than 35 kg/m2, emergency surgeries, previous upper gastrointestinal surgery, refusal to participate.

Gastric antral cross sectional area measured by ultrasonography.Timepoint: Preoperative period before induction of anesthesia.;Incidence of full stomach risk defined as gastric volume greater than 1.5 ml per kg.Timepoint: Preoperative period before induction of anesthesia.;Perioperative blood glucose levels.Timepoint: Preoperative intraoperative and postoperative periods.;Perioperative complications including regurgitation and aspiration.Timepoint: Intraoperative and postoperative periods.
