Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1 Patients aged 14-30 years. 2 Indication for bilateral maxillary first premolar extraction. 3 Requirement of canine retraction as part of treatment. 4 Good general health. 5 No history of previous orthodontic treatment. 6 Healthy periodontium with good oral hygiene.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1 Systemic diseases affecting bone metabolism. 2 Long-term use of medications influencing bone turnover (corticosteroids, bisphosphonates, NSAIDs). 3 Active periodontal disease. 4 Smoking habits. 5 Unilateral chewing. 6 Para-functional habits. 7 Pregnancy or lactation.

Rate of orthodontic canine retraction measured on study casts using digital Vernier caliper by measuring the distance between canine and stable palatal rugae reference point.Timepoint: Measurements will be recorded at baseline, 4 weeks, 8 weeks and 12 weeks after initiation of canine retraction.—
