Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Presence of plaque induced gingivitis Minimum of 20 natural teeth No periodontal therapy in the last 6 months Systemically healthy individuals

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Acute and Chronic Periodontitis Smokers and tobacco users Pregnant or lactating women Systemic diseases affecting periodontium Use of antibiotics or mouthwash in the last 3 months Known allergy to herbal products or chlorhexidine

1. To assess and compare the effect of safflower seed herbal mouthwash and 0.2% chlorhexidine mouthwash on halitosis. 2. To assess and compare plaque accumulation after the use of the two mouthwashes. 3. To evaluate and compare gingival health following the use of safflower seed herbal mouthwash and 0.2% chlorhexidine mouthwash. Timepoint: 21 days per patent

1. To evaluate and compare changes in tongue coating following the use of both mouthwashes. 2. Quantify changes in Streptococcus mutans counts in saliva samples before and after intervention of safflower seed herbal mouthwash. Timepoint: 21 days per patient
