Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Patients presenting with at least 5 classical signs and symptoms of Sthaulya. Serum LDL level between 100 to 190 mg/dl and/or Serum triglyceride level between 160 to 499 mg/dl and/or Serum cholesterol level more than 240 mg/dl and/or Serum VLDL level more than 30 mg/dl and/or Serum HDL level less than 35 mg/dl. Patients indicated for Virechana Karma and Basti Karma. Patients having BMI between 25 and 35. Waist hip ratio more than 0.95 in men and more than 0.85 in women. Willing and able to participate in the study.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Age below 18 years and above 60 years. Patients having serum LDL level more than 190 mg/dl and/or serum triglyceride level more than 499 mg/dl. Known cases of serious cardiac disorders such as myocardial infarction and angina. Known cases of AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases. Drug induced obesity due to anticonvulsants, antipsychotics, or other medications. Known cases of hypothyroidism. Individuals contraindicated for Virechana Karma and Basti Karma. Patients having uncontrolled hypertension, diabetes mellitus, or any other systemic illness. Pregnant and lactating women.
