Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Participants aged 18 years or older with at least one periodontal intrabony defect involving a two-wall or three-wall defect were included in the study. The selected teeth were required to be vital or have undergone successful endodontic treatment. Defects associated with probing pocket depth of 5 mm or more were considered eligible. Subjects were required to maintain a plaque score of less than 1 and should not have undergone any previous surgical procedure at the intended treatment site. Only systemically healthy individuals were included in the study.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Teeth exhibiting poor prognosis with Grade 2 or Grade 3 mobility were excluded from the study. Teeth with furcation involvement greater than Grade 2 were also excluded. Subjects who had undergone periodontal surgery in the area of interest within the previous two years were not considered for inclusion. Pregnant and lactating women, as well as individuals with a habit of tobacco use in either smoked or smokeless form, were excluded. Subjects with systemic conditions that contraindicated periodontal surgery were also excluded from the study.
