Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Participants who are willing to participate and provide informed consent will be included. Individuals with chronic low back pain of more than 12 weeks duration will be eligible. Participants should have a pain intensity of less than 3/10 on the Numeric Pain Rating Scale (NPRS) and a Body Mass Index (BMI) greater than 29 kg/m . Participants must demonstrate fear-avoidance beliefs with a FABQ-Physical Activity score of greater than 15 and/or a FABQ-Work score of greater than 34, along with a Tampa Scale of Kinesiophobia (TSK) score greater than 33. Only individuals who are non-allergic to surface electromyography (EMG) electrodes will be included. Additionally, pain or discomfort should be localized in the region below the costal margin and above the inferior gluteal folds.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: History of spinal or hip surgery within the 12 months. Presence of cognitive impairment affecting understanding or task performance Existence of LBP red flags (fractures, inflammatory conditions, infections, malignancies, and disc prolapse) Presence of radiating pain (e.g., radiculopathy) Clinical signs of cauda equina syndrome based on bladder or bowel disturbance and/or imaging Presence of other musculoskeletal pain disorders that may affect lifting kinematics, such as hip or knee osteoarthritis Pregnancy or breastfeeding women Severe hip or knee pain limiting functional movement. Health problems such as uncontrolled hypertension, neuromuscular disease, cancer, consumption of psychotropic drugs, as well as specific LBP, including spinal stenosis, herniated disc, back operation or traumatic injury. Weightlifters, CrossFit athletes, physical therapists and nurses were not eligible due to a potential bias regarding lifting techniques.
