Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Scheduled for major abdominal surgeries including gynaecological surgeries. 2. ASA grade I TO III male and female. 3. Aged between 18 and 80 years. 4. Body mass index less than 35.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Refusal to undergo epidural analgesia 2. Infection at the epidural insertion site 3. History of coagulopathy 4. Severe hypovolemia 5. Raised intracranial pressure (ICP) 6. Pre-existing neurological deficits or demyelinating disorders 7. Severe spinal deformity 8. Coexisting cardiorespiratory disease, such as ventricular dysfunction or a history of AV block/bradyarrhythmias 9. 10. Not extubated and transferred to the ICU postoperatively
