Health Condition 1: J952- Acute pulmonary insufficiency following nonthoracic surgery

Intervention1: Pranayama: Standard peri-operative care and Subjects are made to practice pre-op Pranayama which consists of Sectional breathing exercises followed by Kapalabhati, Bhastrika and Kum

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Subjects scheduled for single lower limb orthopaedic surgery under spinal/ epidural anaesthesia. 2. Subjects willing to consent for the study.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Subjects with history of chronic respiratory condition or requiring medical management for respiratory failure. 2. Any acute conditions requiring emergency surgeries and trauma conditions. 3. Subjects scheduled for abdominal surgeries necessitating spinal/ epidural anaesthesia 4. Subjects who are scheduled for concurrent or multiple surgeries within a week. 5. Subjects suffering from collagen muscular diseases. 6. Subjects scheduled for surgery for Rheumatoid arthritis or any other inflammatory conditions. 7. Subjects who are obese defined by BMI more than 35. 8. Known case of Chronic Smoking with Eight plus high dependency according to Fagerstrom Scale.
