Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
: To determine the prevalence of preoperative anaemia in children aged 1 to 15 years undergoing non-cardiac, elective surgeries based on the WHO cut off values for anaemia for different age groupsTimepoint: Preoperative as baseline Hemoglobin, intraoperative data on the day of surgery, postoperative data on discharge

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To compare WHO cut off values versus Indian haemoglobin cut-off criteria for defining anaemia in this patient population aged 1 to 15 years.Timepoint: Baseline at admission; To stratify the severity of anaemia based on the WHO cut off values for different age groups.Timepoint: Baseline Hemoglobin at admission; To evaluate any differences in patient outcomes based on the presence or absense of anaemia according to the WHO guidelines, among the various age groups Timepoint: At Discharge of the patient
