Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: ASA classification 2 and 3 Age more than 18 years undergoing elective major abdominal or orthopaedic surgeries under General Anaesthesia Informed written and valid consent

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients with preexisting severe untreated or uncontrolled hypertension Patient on irreversible nonselective MAO inhibitors within 2weeks of surgery Pregnant or breastfeeding mothers Patients having undergone CABG or PTCA in the last 6months Patients having Ejection fraction less than 40percent in 2D Echo

Incidence of intraoperative hypotensionTimepoint: Hemodynamic parameters were recorded every 3 minutes for the first 15 minutes following induction of anesthesia, followed by every 10 minutes for the next one hour, and thereafter every 30 minutes until completion of surgery

To compare the adverse drug event rates between the two groups 1 Drug extravasation leading to skin necrosis 2 Severe hypertension systolic BP more than 180mmhg 3 Tachyarrhythmias 4 Metabolic derrangements elevated lactate and hyperglycemiaTimepoint: Secondary outcomes like hemodynamic parameters were assessed at predefined intraoperative intervals-baseline,post-induction, 3 minutes and then every 15-30 minutes till the end of surgery.Post operative secondary outcomes were assessed over the first 4 hours every 30 minutes
