Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients who Are aged 18 years and above Initiated on mechanical ventilation Are admitted with medical, renal, surgical, neurological, endocrine, cardiac, respiratory conditions

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients with history of cheilitis prior admission to the ICU Patients who are mechanically intubated and show the signs of cheilitis Patients with alleged history of trauma to the lips in the current hospitalization Patient bystanders who are not willing to give consent for the study Patients with known hypersensitivity to tocopherol and petroleum gel products Patient receiving other topical lip treatment (glycerin, medicated ointments)
