Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1) Patients above 18 years of age 2) Patients admitted in Medicine ICU with sepsis satisfying the SEPSIS III criteria 3) Patients who gave the informed consent 4) Sufficient clinical and physiological data to allow calculation of APACHE IV score.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.ICU stay less than 24 hours 2.Patients on chronic steroids or immunosuppressive therapy 3. Known haematological disorders that affect the markers independently 4. Patients with terminal illness

Primary

MeasureTime frame
ICU mortality measured as all-cause mortality occurring during ICU stay in patients with Sepsis, and its association with baseline Triglyceride Glycaemic (TyG) Index and Neutrophil-to-Lymphocyte Ratio (NLR). Timepoint: 2 years

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
1. Length of ICU stay. 2. Requirement of mechanical ventilation. 3. Predictive value of TyG Index & NLR. 4. Independent prognostic significance.Timepoint: 2 years
