Intervention1: Discontinuation of caffeine therapy after apnea free inteval of 7 days: This is the proposed duration of caffeine therapy where caffeine is stopped after apnea free interval of 7 days C

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Neonates greater than 30 weeks of gestational age with apnea of prematurity whose parents are consenting for the study

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Neonates with other explanations for apneic episodes such as sepsis , hypoglycemia , hypothermia , hypocalcemia ,pernatal asphyxia , maternal drug usage 2. Neonates with congenital malformations . 3. Neonates with any suspected metabolic syndromes .

Recurrence of apnea of prematurity after discontinuation of caffeine therapyTimepoint: Within 5 days after discontinuation of caffeine therapy

Frequency of apnea episodes during theapyTimepoint: Baseline , Day 3, Day 7 & till discontinuation;Successful apnea free period before stopping caffeine (7 consecutive days without apnea )Timepoint: During therapy;Need for respiratory support (CPAP / Mechanical Ventilation )Timepoint: During hospital stay;Duration of hospital stayTimepoint: At discharge;Adverse effects of caffeine ( tachycardia , feeding intolerance , jitteriness )Timepoint: Daily during therapy till discontinuation
