Eligibility
Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: i. Adults aged 18-65 years attending the tertiary care hospital in Udupi. ii. Adults who meet the diagnostic criteria for metabolic syndrome using the NCEP ATP III criteria with South Asian cut-offs. iii. Willing and able to provide informed written consent.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: i. Below 18 years and above 65 years of age group. ii. Pregnant or currently breastfeeding (physiological metabolic changes may confound outcomes). iii. Participants with acute or chronic illnesses such as typhoid fever, malaria, dengue, active tuberculosis, pneumonia, HIV/AIDS, chronic hepatitis B or C, autoimmune diseases, malignancies, severe renal, hepatic, thyroid disorders were excluded from the study.
