Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Patients undergoing posting for elective or emergency lower abdominal or perineal surgery. 2. Patients conformed to American Society of Anaesthesiologists (ASA) physical status -I-II in preoperative assessment. 3. Ability to follow the study protocol by parents. 4. Duration of surgery less than 120 minutes.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Children with upper/midgut obstruction. 2. Coagulation abnormalities. 3. Sacral anomalies. 4. Long-duration surgeries( more than 120 minutes) with major fluid shifts. 5. Neuromuscular or metabolic disorders. 6. Local infection at the site of puncture. 7. Systemic infection.
