Eligibility
Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Age- 20-60 years. Patients having symptoms of traumatized Gulpha Manibandh and kurchashira marma Pain and swelling on either side of ankle or wrist joint Pain and stiffness of the foot and Antalgic gait due to ankle joint trauma Pain stiffness and reduced range of motion Presence of pain in wrist and ankle joint where these Marma are located
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Age below 20 or above 60 years. Patients with diagnosed systemic illnesses like diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, neuropathy or any chronic debilitating condition that may alter pain perception. Open wounds or recent surgery near the Marma sites (wrist and ankle). Patients currently on painkillers, steroids or any medication that may alter pain sensitivity. History of psychiatric illness or inability to communicate pain responses properly. Pregnant or lactating women due to harmonal and physiological changes may affect pain sensitivity.
Design outcomes
Primary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| Assessment of pressure pain threshold at Gulpha, Manibandha and Kurchashira Marma using algometer.Timepoint: Baseline at the time of enrollment only | — |
Secondary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| The secondary outcome includes assessment of pain intensity using the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) at the selected Marma points at baseline. The study will also evaluate the grading of Marma sensitivity (mild, moderate, severe) based on PPT and VAS values at baseline. The study will assess differences in pain thresholds between the left and right sides at baseline. The study will determine the prevalence of Marma trauma based on the proportion of Grade 3 cases at the end of the study. The study will establish baseline reference values of Pain Pressure Threshold (PPT) for the selected Marma points in participants.Timepoint: Baseline (single-time assessment at enrollment); prevalence assessed at study completion. | — |
