Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Healthy adults aged above 14 years presenting with moderate to severe pain on the VAS scale in maxillary and mandibular molars are included. The selected teeth are carious molars in which complete caries removal is likely to result in pulpal exposure. Patients must be diagnosed with symptomatic partial irreversible pulpitis, characterized by a history of spontaneous, referred, or nocturnal pain along with an exaggerated and lingering response to the cold vitality test. Preoperative pain is assessed using a VAS score ranging from 0 to 10, and only patients with a pain score greater than 3 are included. On radiographic evaluation, only cases with a Periapical Index (PAI) score of less than 2 are considered. The presence of vital pulp is confirmed clinically by its bright red appearance, and haemostasis must be achieved within 5 minutes following pulpotomy. Additionally, the tooth must be restorable, with probing pocket depth and mobility within normal limits.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Teeth exhibiting a negative response to vitality tests are excluded, as well as those presenting with a sinus opening, swelling, or tenderness on percussion. Teeth showing radiolucency in the furcation or periapical areas are not included. Cases with external or internal root resorption are excluded. Unrestorable teeth and those with a history of trauma or the presence of cracks are also excluded. Teeth exhibiting calcification or pulp canal obliteration are not considered. Additionally, cases where no pulp exposure occurs even after complete caries excavation are excluded. Teeth with absence of bleeding indicative of necrotic pulp, or with inconspicuous or insufficient bleeding, are not included. Furthermore, cases in which haemostasis cannot be achieved within 5 minutes are excluded from the study.
