Inclusion criteria: 1.Systemically healthy individuals 2.Non-smokers or controlled smoking status as per group criteria 3.Group 1: Periodontally Healthy Interdental CAL: Absent Radiographic bone loss: None Probing pocket depth is less than or equal to 3 mm Tooth loss due to periodontitis: None Bone loss pattern: None Bleeding on probing: less than or equal 10 percent Disease progression (5 years): None Diabetes status: Normoglycemic 4.Group 2: Stage I Grade A Interdental CAL: 1 to 2 mm Radiographic bone loss: Coronal third (less than 15 percent) Probing pocket depth: less than or equal 4 mm Tooth loss due to periodontitis: None Bone loss pattern: Mostly horizontal Bleeding on probing: May be present Disease progression: No progression Bone loss/age ratio: less than 0.25 Smoking status: Non-smoker Diabetes status: Normoglycemic 5.Group 3: Stage II Grade A Interdental CAL: 3 to 4 mm Radiographic bone loss: Coronal third (15 33 percent) Probing pocket depth: less than or equal 5 mm Tooth loss due to periodontitis: None Bone loss pattern: Mostly horizontal Bleeding on probing: May be present Disease progression: No progression Bone loss/age ratio: less than 0.25 Smoking status: Non-smoker Diabetes status: Normoglycemic 6.Group 4: Stage II Grade B Interdental CAL: 3 4 mm Radiographic bone loss: Coronal third (15 33 percent) Probing pocket depth: less than or equal 5 mm Tooth loss due to periodontitis: None Bone loss pattern: Mostly horizontal Furcation involvement: Absent Ridge defects: Absent Disease progression (5 years): less than 2 mm Bone loss/age ratio: 0.25 1.0 Smoking status: less than 10 cigarettes per day Diabetes status: HbA1c less than 7 percent 7.Group 5: Stage III Grade B Interdental CAL: less than or equal 5 mm Radiographic bone loss: Middle third of root and beyond Probing pocket depth: less than or equal 6 mm Tooth loss due to periodontitis: less than or equal 4 teeth Bone loss pattern: Vertical bone loss greater than or equal 3 mm Furcation involvement: Class II or III Ridge defects: Moderate Disease progression (5 years): less than 2 mm Bone loss/age ratio: 0.25 1.0 Smoking status: less than 10 cigarettes per day Diabetes status: HbA1c less than or equal 7 percent 8.Group 6: Stage III Grade C Interdental CAL: greater than or equal 5 mm Radiographic bone loss: Middle third of root and beyond Probing pocket depth: greater than or equal 6 mm Tooth loss due to periodontitis: less than or equal 4 teeth Bone loss pattern: Vertical bone loss greater than or equal 3 mm Furcation involvement: Class II or III Ridge defects: Moderate Disease progression (5 years): greater than or equal 2 mm Bone loss/age ratio: greater than 1.0 Smoking status: greater than or equal 10 cigarettes per day Diabetes status: HbA1c greater than or equal 7 percent
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1.Pregnant women or those in the lactation period 2.Patients who had received systemic antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medication within the previous 6 months 3.Patients who had undergone periodontal treatment within the last 2 years 4.Individuals with systemic conditions influencing periodontal status, such as Diabetes mellitus 5.HIV-positive status 6.Patients with active dental caries or other oral infections
