Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Patients undergoing elective spine surgery (cervical / thoracic / lumbar), including decompression and instrumented procedures, under general anaesthesia 2.Patients able to undergo preoperative cognitive assessment (Mini-Cog) 3.Patients providing written informed consent

To determine the association between preoperative frailty (Clinical Frailty Scale) and the incidence of early postoperative delirium in geriatric patients undergoing spine surgery.Timepoint: 4 AT SCORRING SYSTEM

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To assess the association of selected preoperative geriatric vulnerability markers, including cognitive status (Mini-Cog), nutritional status (MNA-SF), falls history, polypharmacy, with early postoperative deliriumTimepoint: BASELINE;To describe selected intraoperative physiological & anaesthetic variables, including haemodynamic stability, anaesthetic depth, vasopressor use, & opioid consumption, & explore their relationship with early postoperative delirium.Timepoint: INTRAOPERATIVE DAY;To assess early postoperative neurological recovery, using predefined recovery parameters, in relation to preoperative frailty & early postoperative delirium.Timepoint: POSTOPERATIVE PERIOD;To evaluate the association of preoperative frailty & early postoperative delirium with selected postoperative clinical outcomes, including ICU admission & length of hospital stay.Timepoint: BASELINE DAY ONE
