Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Clinical criteria Premature loss of primary first molar in any two quadrants. Non carious buccal and lingual surfaces of abutment teeth. Presence of teeth on the mesial and distal side of edentulous area. Indication of space maintenance is assessed according to the space analysis. Parents willing to give consent for the participation in the study. Radiographic criteria Presence of succedaneous tooth bud. Presence of more than 1 mm of bone overlying the succedaneous tooth germ.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Clinical criteria Grossly carious buccal and lingual surfaces of the abutment teeth. Absence of teeth on the mesial and distal side of the edentulous area. Space maintenance is not indicated according to the space analysis. Radiographic criteria Presence of pathology in relation to the abutment tooth. Absence of succedaneous tooth bud. Absence of more than 1 mm of bone overlying the succedaneous tooth germ.
