Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Age of more than 18 years 2. ARDS patients as defined by American European Consensus Conference 3. Endotracheal Intubation or Tracheostomised patients requiring Mechanical Ventilation

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Severe hemodyanamic instability requiring high vasopressors that is requirement of 2 or more vasopressors to maintain MAP more than 65, Raised intracranial pressures, Cervical spine instability, Facial trauma, Known respiratory pathology.

MeasureTime frame
To find out the optimal duration of proning for maximum benefit in terms of improvement in P/F ratios more than 200 sustained for 8 hours in supine position after prone ventilation in patients with moderate to severe ARDS.Timepoint: Till P/F ratio improves to more than 200 for 8 hours after proning session

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
1.Mortality rate at 30 days 2.Complication/ events(at different time intervals) during prone ventilation such as pressure sores, excidental extubation, ETT obstruction, hemoptysis, desaturation to less than 85%, hemodyanamic instability, cardiac arrest 3.Length of stay in ICU in surviving patients. 4.Respiratory mechanics(compliance) at various time intervals 5.Reinitiation of proning after termination 6.Duration of proning beyond which there is no further improvement in proningTimepoint: Till P/F ratio improves to more than 200 for 8 hours after proning session
