Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Male Patients aged 60-80 years who are posted for TURP surgery. 2. Patients belonging to American Society of Anaesthesiologists Physical status I, II and III. 3. Ability to provide informed consent.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients who are not willing to participate in the study. 2.Patient aged less than 60 years and more than 80 years. 3.Patients with significant cardiac dysfunction (ejection fraction less than 40percent), Pulmonary artery hypertension, Tricuspid regurgitation and Right heart failure. 4.Patients belonging to ASA physical status more than 4 or any other severe systemic disease. 5.Patients with Pre-existing neurological or neuropsychiatric disorders. 6.Based on screening in the operation theatre, patients with IVC dm less than 1.5cms and IVCCI more than 50percentage and IVCCI less than 50percentage in combination (suggestive of hypovolemia).

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
1. To measure IVCCI at end of TURP surgery to assess volume status. 2. To evaluate usefulness of serum sodium levels as an early warning sign in patients suggested to have volume overload by IVC diameter & IVCCI using ultrasound. 3. To evaluate the requirement & amount of intravenous fluids to be administered during TURP surgery.Timepoint: To measure IVCCI at end of TURP surgery to assess volume status. 2. To evaluate usefulness of serum sodium levels as an early warning sign in patients suggested to have volume overload by IVC diameter & IVCCI using ultrasound. 3. To evaluate the requirement & amount of intravenous fluids to be administered during TURP surgery.
